Heather Engebretson studied Singing and Violin at Cleveland Institute of Music and completed a Master of Music degree at New York’s Juilliard School where she studied with Edith Wiens and coached with Steven Blier‚ supported by The Davidson Institute. Heather won first place in Finland’s prestigious Savonlinna Opera Festival Competition‚ and was also awarded the Sonderpreis der Oper Graz in the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition‚ after which she appeared in concert at the Stadttheatre of Baden bei Wien.

Recent and future engagements include a highly successful Sophie Werther and Barbarina Le Nozze di Figaro at the Royal Opera House‚ Covent Garden‚ Liu Turandot (Liege)‚ Konstanze Die Entführung aus dem Serail‚ Ascagne Les Troyens and Frasquita Carmen (Hamburg)‚ Violetta La traviata‚ Konstanze‚ Alcina (title role)‚ Fiordiligi Cosi fan tutte and Euridice Orfeo ed Euridice (Wiesbaden)‚ Oscar Un ballo in maschera‚ Musetta La bohème‚ Tytania A Midsummer Night’s Dream‚ Zerlina Don Giovanni‚ Jennie Street Scene‚ Frasquita Carmen‚ and Papagena Die Zauberflöte (Hannover).

Praised by the New York Times for her “sweet-voiced soprano‚” 26-year old lyric soprano Heather Engebretson is quickly becoming known for her overwhelming power (ITÄ-SAVO‚ Savonlinna) and her long lines and beautiful sound. Heather studies with world-renowned soprano Edith Wiens and also frequently coaches with Earl Buys.

Equally at home on the concert platform‚ Heather has performed Schubert’s G Major Mass (Carnegie Hall)‚ Bach’s Magnificat (Alice Tully Hall)‚ Verdi’s Requiem with Euro-via Festival in Landsberg am Lech and at Kirchenmusik an St. Sebald‚ Germany and Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem with the Virginia Consort. Further repertoire includes Carmina Burana‚ Handel’s Messiah‚ Fauré Requiem‚ Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis and R.Strauss’ Vier letzte Lieder.
